#WOMENSCRUSHWEDNESDAY IS NOW TRENDING..BUT IS IT A GOOD LOOK FOR WOMEN
I don't know what is is, but its something unsettling about the thousands of seemingly "straight" women participating in and posting pics with the now trending hashtag "#WCW" - Women's Crush Wednesday. Whats really going on when a large majority of women from Twitter, Facebook, to Instagram are posting pictures admitting same sex crushes on anyone from celebrities, to close personal friends? Am I the only one that sees this as kind of strange?
When I was growing up, I noticed early on a female could call another female cute, beautiful, or pretty. Even back then it felt weird, and as a young man I also knew I would never tell any of my homeboys or any man for that matter anything remotely close to what females tell other females out of admiration.
We already know thats called being gay and young men aren't raised like that. I still ask myself, why are females raised to admire other women? Is that the gateway that ultimately leads down to road to "Womens Crush Wednesday"?
Don't get me wrong, a chick saying a chick is cute casually is ok. But when you post more then one picture of all your different crushes, thats when it starts to get a lil strange. You don't have anything better to do then to sit online and lust after the same sex? When (and if) you meet the object of your crush, what would you do? Would you all sit around and bake cookies and spin the newest hits, or would you act upon your crush?
I've really never seen so many women declare their lust towards other women at the same time in my life. From the outlook of a man looking at all this, I can tell you that something is indeed wrong with this picture. It's a combination of music, drugs, mainstream media, upbringing, and peer pressure to fit in on social networks.
These young ladies should pick up a book and find a hobby before they decide on Wednesday to admit a "crush", or "come out" perse. (Because that's what you all are really doing.)
